How to copy a branch
Copy an existing set of markups to a new branch on the same version or another revision of the drawing.

Before you start
Copying creates an editable branch and locks the original. The two branches do not stay synced.
Steps
- Click the version label at the top of the viewer to open
Versions.
- Move over the branch you want to copy and open its
menu.
- Choose
Copy to version, then select the destination. Choose (this version) for another review of the same PDF, or another version to carry the markups onto that revision.
- Deta opens the copy. Use
Edit name to name it.
You can also use Copy to version on the
Synced layer of a connected drawing. This copies its markups into an editable branch; the synced layer remains connected to the source.
Copying to a different PDF revision
Markups keep their sheet numbers and positions. Deta does not automatically match a moved detail or a renumbered sheet. Reposition affected markups to match the revised PDF.
For a directly uploaded drawing, upload the revised PDF as a new version first so it appears as a destination.
Page arrangements and PDF text edits are not copied. Markups on removed or duplicated pages cannot be carried to another version; Deta reports any marks left behind.
Troubleshooting
- The original branch is now locked: this is part of copying. Continue in the new branch, or choose
Unlock branch on the original if you need to edit it again.
