Tables

A table turns the markups on your drawings into quantities. Each row is a line of scope, each column asks a question about your markups, and every cell recomputes as you mark up — there is no export step between measuring and counting.

How a table gets its numbers

Tables never store quantities. A measure column stores a question — "the area of everything tagged ext-wall" — and the answer is recomputed from the current markups every time you open the table. Retag a markup, move a wall, add a page, and the number follows.

That is why formulas matter: the formula is the takeoff. Learning the handful of operators in the formula reference is the whole skill.
